Go 1.27 is released with generic methods, encoding/json/v2 and an ML-DSA package
The release also adds a goroutine leak profile, faster small allocations and new go fix modernizers.
The Go team released Go 1.27 on August 19, 2026. Binary archives and installers are available from the download page, and the full release notes list every change.
On the language side, generic methods are now supported, a struct literal key can be any valid field selector so that fields of embedded structs can be set directly, and type inference now works in more assignment contexts such as composite literals, conversions and channel sends.
The standard library gains encoding/json/v2 with jsontext for streaming, while the existing encoding/json package is now backed by the v2 implementation. Other additions include crypto/mldsa for the post-quantum ML-DSA signature scheme, a uuid package, experimental simd packages, and httptest.NewTestServer for use with testing/synctest.
Tooling and runtime changes include new go fix modernizers, go doc support for package@version queries, and a go mod tidy that merges require blocks into a direct and an indirect block. Small allocations under 80 bytes are cheaper, and the goroutineleak profile in runtime/pprof is now generally available. Developers can try the release on a branch and read the notes for compatibility details.
